Ford Focus, Fiesta & Fusion Radio Not Working? Signs Your ACM Module Has Failed

If the radio in your Ford Focus, Fiesta, or Fusion has gone silent, frozen on one screen, or won't turn on at all, the problem is very often the ACM — the Audio Control Module. It's one of the most common electrical failures on these cars, and the good news is it can usually be repaired instead of replaced.

What the ACM does

The ACM is the radio's "brain" — the unit behind the dash that runs the radio, CD player, and audio, and sends sound to your speakers. The buttons and screen on the dash are just the controls; the ACM does the actual work. When it fails, the whole audio system goes with it.

Common signs of a failing Ford ACM

  • No sound from any speakers, even though the screen looks normal.
  • A frozen or stuck screen that won't respond or change.
  • No power — the radio is completely dead.
  • Radio, CD, or AUX that cut in and out, or work only some of the time.

Before blaming the ACM, it's worth checking the radio fuses. If the fuses are good and the symptoms match, the ACM is the likely culprit.

Why ACM units fail

Years of heat, vibration, and power cycling take a toll on the electronics inside. Internal components and solder joints wear out, and the module stops powering up, stops producing sound, or locks up. It's a common enough failure that many owners go through it.

Which models we cover

  • Ford Focus and Fiesta: 2012-2019
  • Ford Fusion: 2013-2015

Repair your ACM instead of replacing it

A replacement ACM from a junkyard is the same age as yours and can fail the same way. A new one from the dealer is expensive and may need setting up for your car. Repairing your own unit keeps everything matched to your vehicle — it goes back in exactly where it came out.

How our ACM repair works

  1. Remove your ACM from behind the dash.
  2. Send it in.
  3. We repair it and ship it back ready to reinstall.
  4. Reinstall it and your sound is back — with a lifetime warranty on the repair.
